Fast food protein - chicken
My goal this year is to gain more muscle, and not make myself miserable while doing it. If I were just trying to do it for a couple of weeks, or even a few months, I could probably scrape by, but this has got to last the whole year, and hopefully next year, and next year. This is what I call a "forever plan", which is how long I plan to live. And no, I'm not gonna achieve my goals by eating typical fast food, I will achieve them by eating foods high in protein.
I like chicken. It's a great source of protein, it tastes good to me, and my body digests it well. But unfortunately I've found it difficult to find while I'm out riding around suburban Phoenix, so I'm excited to tell you my newest discovery - chicken fillet patty at Jack in the Box.
I like to eat after being out on my recumbent trike for about an hour, and since I get out very early I usually have the dining room to myself. I eat alone, and that's my table there on the right, where I have a good view of the trike, in case anyone wants to get any funny ideas (yes, it's locked, but I don't want anyone to even touch it!). If people get too close to it, I simply stroll outside and show them a full-grown man who is about six feet tall (which is how most guys who are 5' 10" describe themselves) who is displeased with them - that's usually enough. And sometimes people just want to talk to me, which I'm always happy to do!
OK, let's take a closer look at the chicken. It's a special order, but if you're patient with the overworked people at Jack in the Box, and you can say very clearly "Chicken fillet patty" you'll be fine. And yes, it's a real chicken fillet, and it's served nice and warm and juicy. I eat it with a knife and fork, and am working on another goal to help improve my digestion, slowing down, and savoring every bite.
My beverage is always a small cup of coffee, and I carry water on the trike for afterwards. I also have some snacks for dessert!
Like I say, this is part of my "forever plan", and it's taken me a long time to get this place, which is really a new beginning. I tried what I call "people food", and it not only tastes awful to me, it gave me digestive problems (and believe me, you don't want, ahem, digestive problems when you're out pedaling around!) No more 99 cent tacos, or fried chicken, for me!
I'm very pleased about this discovery, and am looking forward to more rides, and more chicken. I'll let you know how it goes.
